A note from our Nail Polish Diva, Misty:
So far, the CND Shellac gel polish is what we are seeing in the salons around here. Not too long ago we discovered the Shellac and loved it. I went to the salon Michigan and got a French manicure on my natural nails using the Shellac gel polish for my wedding. Not only did the Shellac gel polish last throughout my Wedding, it lasted all throughout my honeymoon and then some. The girl in Michigan did a great job on my nails! HOWEVER (and there is always a however or but, huh. . . ), since then I have come down to Louisiana and had my nails done twice with the Shellac. Neither place offered the OPI gel nails, just the Shellac. The first time the girl put on such a thin coat of white for my French manicure I could see right through it. She acted as though it was regular polish. She seemed like she was in such a rush! That manicure maybe lasted a week with the Shellac gel.
Second time I got the Masquerade Shellac. The color is just beautiful as can be. I have gotten plenty of compliments on it. One problem though is the girl was again in a rush and got the top coat on the side of my thumb nail. I didn't see it until after we left the salon. When I did the dishes, it came off.
So here's my advice . . . regardless if you are using the Shellac gel nail polish at home or they are using it at the salon, make sure they take their time! Make sure it isn't on the side of your fingers or on the cuticles, not even the top coat. Make sure they use the UV lamp correctly. And make sure it is the Shellac brand and not some fake or imposter! (The imposters are heck to get off!) Other than that, I highly recommend the Shellac gel nails. They last forever when applied correctly. It has a brush just like nail polish. And when you are done using the UV lamp you can go on without worrying about messing up your nails.
